What a night. It’s not even midnight, but what a night it’s been already. A quick trip to Broadways turned into an exploration of my distant past. I love it

I started my internship today, and I absolutely LOVE it. I not only work at the most luxurious hotel/resort in all of Australia, but I also have the best coworkers ever. They’re so friendly and knowledgeable that I’m sure that I’m going to learn loads while I’m here. Just from working on brochures today, I’ve seen countless pictures of Hayman Island Resort and my coworker, Hala’s, marketing material works; I want to fly there right now. Too bad rooms cost up to $4200 a night, but I can’t blame Hayman; the rooms and resort are both equally fabulous. Go thoroughly stalk the website, it’ll make anyone want to go. http://www.hayman.com.au/

I mean seriously, look at this place. So work was really fun, I feel integrated into the team already and it’s only been one day. Today happened to also be my boss’s birthday so the office celebrated with carrot cake in the morning, and champagne in the afternoon. I swear, I saw at least 40 bottles of champagne in the kitchen today. It should be an interesting 7 weeks.
My boss is also going to Shanghai for a show this upcoming Sunday so she can’t make the charity event that Hayman is supposedly hosting. It’s at Bondi Beach and they typically raise $40,000 for a charity. But my boss saw this man w/cancer on the news a week ago. He was talking about how he had a rare type of cancer and the treatment that he needs is not covered by Australian health insurance, so he was going to sell his house to get the $36,000 that he needs for treatment. My boss decided to help this guy out and is giving all proceeds to him! Isn’t that awesome. AND she’s going to Shanghai, so that’s another huge plus in my book. Obviously
After work, I was delighted and found my way back home via bus (public transportation aw yeah), and “made” myself dinner : precut turkey+mustard, carrots w/hummus, yoghurt(as the australians spell it) +craisins, and I think that was it. Then a bunch of us went to my favorite pub so far, for Trivia Night. That was pretty fun, the trivia was so hard ahha. Then I came back and showered, and once I got back into my room after my shower, I checked my computer and my Wellesley friend chatted me on gchat! She is currently in Uganda teaching children until August, so I was ecstatic to hear from her. We talked for around an hour and a half until her internet connection died, but talking to her seriously made my week. I missed her terribly.
Today was honestly such a great day, aside from the fact that I broke a nail :(, but I sincerely hope that days like these keep coming for everyone as well as for myself. I love this place.
