So when I was working at Flex today, Angeline Chen called me and asked me if I wanted to get the last spot on the Taiwan missions trip. I told her I’d think about it and call Auntie Esther by tonight with my answer. After getting off the phone I asked my coworker, Jessica, if I should go and she asked me what I would be doing if I didn’t go. I replied saying “hanging out I guess”. Jessica then said that I should definitely go on the missions trip. I was still hesitant because as a senior, I start school on August 22 at Wellesley and I’m probably going a week or so earlier for tennis and to buy some college necessities. I’m also probably going on a week long trip to Hawaii, Florida, and then a two week trip to Shanghai. If I go to Taiwan then that means that 6-7 weeks of my already short summer is gone, and I wanted to “hang out”.
As I was driving home later on, I thought about how stupid I was for even considering “hanging out” instead of going on a missions trip. I mean, what an awesome opportunity Taiwan is. I’ll be chillin with church buddies, going to a place I’ve never been, but most importantly spreading the gospel. I guess I forgot how impactful my last missions trip to China was even though I wrote my Common App essay on it. Thank You God for getting my priorities straight. Taiwan, here I come!
